Position Title: Part-time Auxiliary Environmental Educator
Location: Rancocas Nature Center, Westampton, NJ 08060
Reports To: Sanctuary Director
Job Classification Part-time Position: Schedule is determined by programming
JOB DESCRIPTION: The part-time auxiliary environmental educator provides natural science programs and environmental
education to program participants and the general public. The auxiliary environmental educator under the direction of the
sanctuary director, takes part in programming and the operation of a nature center and its trails. The ideal candidate
would also take an active role in promoting the Rancocas Nature Center as a membership-based, non-profit
environmental organization

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Educational Programming and Visitor Services
• Conduct science-based natural history education for scheduled programs at the nature center
• Assist in the planning and development of educational materials, working closely with Rancocas staff
• Interact with visitors to the center through answering inquiries about the natural world and the center, as needed
General
• Interact with staff, volunteers, and the public as necessary
• Help with care and maintenance of the grounds, gardens, and trail system, as needed
• Strive to increase Rancocas Nature Center membership base, as appropriate
• Assume additional responsibilities related to the nature store, resident animals, visitors, and RNC grounds, as needed
Knowledge/Skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to accept direction and constructive criticism
• Team player
• Punctual with effective time management skills
• Excellent oral and written skills required
• Strong computer and internet skills; proficient in Microsoft Office Professional
• Ability to work outdoors and hike 2-4 miles
Qualifications
• B.A. or B.S., with major in science, environmental science or science education preferred, but not required
• Demonstrated knowledge of the natural history of NJ
• Experience teaching in a nature center setting or its equivalent
• Valid First Aid and CPR certificate (to be provided by the Rancocas Nature Center).
• Must have reliable transportation, have the physical capacity to walk throughout the land and buildings of the
sanctuary, and be able to move materials and to lift 25 lbs.
Starting Date: Employment can start upon approval of the candidate
Salary: Competitive and commensurate with experience

(specific dates/hours TBD)
